(Here is my Facebook, New Twitter and The G Manifesto Facebook Page)

I have said it before, that when it comes to Television, I really can’t keep down my steak tartare, unless that Bourdain Show is on or HBO’s 24/7.

So far, Mayweather has been lighting up the trash talk:

On Sugar Shane: I’m doing Shane Mosley a favor. I’m letting him share the ring with greatness. The kid’s so desperate.

The kid has no class, no style at all.

Mosley says I only fight for money. You F*cking dummy. I’m a prize fighter. That’s what I am supposed to fight for. A prize.

and

Like I said before, how the fuck I wanna be like you Shane Mosley when everybody in the fight game wanna be The Uno. Kid got a Jheri Curl man. Come on man, its 2010. The kid must’ve woke up in that hot tub time machine.

Floyd Mayweather, a Master of Mental Warfare already seems to be getting to Sugar Shane.

Still, Mosley has a good shot at this one (my comments in bold) as the article below states:

“1. If you look at the names on Mayweather’s record, none of them would have been favored over Mosley. Mayweather decisioned fighters like Carlos Baldomir, Diego Corrales, Zab Judah and Juan Manuel Marquez. Mosley would have decapitated all of the above with relative ease.

Decent Point, however Diego Corrales was thought unbeatable at 130 before Floyd dismantled him, and Marquez was even with Pac-Man before Floyd proved otherwise.

2. Floyd Mayweather has never fought anyone who hits as hard as Shane Mosley. While Oscar DeLaHoya’s left hook is comparable to any shot Mosley throws, the Sugar Man’s arsenal is far more varied and dynamic than the Golden Boy’s. Mosley throws every shot with knockout power and can hurt Mayweather badly if he catches him. As Mosley’s trainer Nazim Richardson stated, “Mosley can KO anything that weighs 147lb, including pacquaio, mayweather, and even farm animals.”

Legit point.

3. Mosley is just as fast as Mayweather. While Mayweather is sneakier with his shots and probably has better timing, Mosley can deliver rapid fire punches with incredible accuracy. When fighting slick southpaw Louis Collazo, Mosley out crafted the slippery New Yorker from the outside with pin point punching and blazing hand speed.

They both are quicksilver fast. We will only know who is faster once they step into the ring.

4. While Mayweather always enters the ring in incredible shape, his punch output at 147lbs has dropped dramatically. Mayweather no longer punches in combination and is content to pot shot from the outside. This will not work against a fighter as busy as Shane. Mosley is a non stop punching machine who fights every minute of every round. While Mayweather may be able to out slick Mosley for parts of the bout, he will be forced at some point to fighting with the marauding Californian. And when he does, Shane will not let him off the hook easily.

Mayweather’s in the trenches fighting is very underrated. He also knows how to get away with every dirty trick in the book.

5. This is Mayweather’s first real challenge at welterweight. While Zab Judah, Sharmba Mitchell and Carlos Baldomir were pretty good, none come close to Shane Mosley. At 147, Mosley has fought and beat the very best with the exception of Vernon Forrest (a very, very underrated fighter who would have also given Mayweather serious problems) and a prime Miguel Cotto (and many people believe Mosley won that fight). Mayweather is untested at the weight, and for his first serious bout, Mosley is a very tall order.

People somehow forget that Shane was taxed twice by Winky Wright. And the late, great Vernon Forrest was never underrated.

Source

A lot of people hate Mayweather, however he has learned the key to making big fights: Have half the people love you and half the people hate you.

Sonny Liston once said, “A boxing match is like a cowboy movie. There’s got to be good guys and there’s got to be bad guys. And that’s what people pay for – to see the bad guys get beat.”

Since Decemeber, I have been more serious about Boxing since when I was a kid boxing Golden Gloves. Working out seven days a week and sparring three times a week. The thing I can say is that stepping in the ring again has made me appreciate Mayweather’s style more than ever.

Land and make your opponent miss.

mayweather waited as long as possible to duck a fight with Mosley, hoping he’d get old over night when/if they do/did fight in the ring. which tells me Mayweather knows Mosley is a legit threat.

talk is cheap, the fact that Mayweather fought JMM and Hatton and a host of others rather than Sugar tells me PBF knows Mosley is a tall order. if not for PBF’s financial troubles and Pacman as an even more legit test, PBF would still be avoiding a fight with Shane.

    TAllagash,

It seems to be the popular opinion all of a sudden that Mayweather has been “ducking” Shane.

The reality is, the public has never called out for a Mayweather VS Shane fight before, and the fight never made sense before. Hell, it doesn’t even make the most sense now; and wouldn’t happen if May and Pac were fighting.

Most of their careers, Mayweather and Shane have been two weight classes apart.

It might have made sense after Mosley’s two fights with Vargas, but those were considered twilight fights for the two of them and Mayweather fought De la Hoya instead. Of course the obvious fight was De la. If Mayweather would have fought Mosley at that time, everyone would have said he was “ducking” Oscar. You can’t fight everyone at once. De La Hoya was the big money fight (richest in history).

And no one at that time was screaming for a Mayweather VS Mosley. I don’t even think Mosley was screaming for that fight at that time, and if he was, no one was listening.

After Mosley lost to Cotto, he was out of contention to fight Floyd. So Floyd made big money dispatching a undefeated Hatton.

It wasn’t until Mosley came back from the dead to defeat Margarito, and the Pac VS Mayweather fight fell through that Mosley VS Mayweather made sense. Remember, the best fight Mosley could get before was the young/potentially great but un-proven Andre Berto.

Everyone is yapping about Mayweather ducking Mosley but if you look at the history it is simply not the case.

In fact, he is fighting Mosley after his most significant win since 2003 (De La), he is arguably at his most dangerous, and when Mosley stock is pretty much at an all time high.

If he really wanted to duck Mosley, the best time would be now. When he is fighting him.

    G,
Thanks for dropping knowledge about Mayweather not ducking Mosley to the kids who don’t know. And whoever said Money May wouldn’t be doing this fight if it wasn’t for his financial troubles….child please. Money May had tax issues, not solvency/bankruptcy issues. And anyways, he made enough bank in the Marquez fight that he is sitting pretty financial statement wise. Haters gonna hate.

G, you going to be in Vegas for the fight weekend? Hopefully see you there. Keep up the great posts.

G, good historical breakdown. its funny how everyone all of a sudden started saying floyd is ducking shane. shane never had the juice in recent times to warrant the fight.

Speaking of history….I think we all remember B-hop and Shane approaching Mayweather after a fight and calling him out to a match with Shane, not to mention Sugars interviews with ESPN calling out Mayweather……But I digress, because I’m not saying any of you are lying about Mayweather ducking Shane I’m just saying you don’t remember or you have’nt been paying attention. But please…by all means pay attention May 1st for as Shane put it ” May’s 1st loss”, because thier’s popular opinion and then thier’s fact. And the fact is hiding behind your elbows and throwing one punch at a time ain’t goin to win this one, Shane will make him fight……………..Mosley VS Pacquiao here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    MEGAburner,

“I think we all remember B-hop and Shane approaching Mayweather after a fight and calling him out to a match with Shane, not to mention Sugars interviews with ESPN calling out Mayweather”

Of course we remember it. And we remember how ridiculous it seemed at the time. At that point it was “get in line Shane”, which is essentially what Mayweather told him. Now Pac is out, Shane is in. Like I said before, if Mayweather is ducking Shane, now would be the time to do it.

Just because someone calls you out, and you don’t fight them immediately, doesn’t equate to you “ducking” them. Everyone calls out Mayweather. Its the payday.

Like Mayweather or hate Mayweather, you can never say he is ducking people.

I must concur with some of your logic because the fact is I’ ve been paying attention for quite some time now and I remember a younger Mayweather looking forward to fighting bigger names in his smaller days and simpley not being recognized at the time because of more recognized fighter saying, wait in line Kid…Like Mosley, De La Hoya, so on and so forth at a time when Mayweather was looking to prove himself as a top competitor. But the tables have certainly turned….you see..people…the same poeple who said to Mayweather…..Hey Mayweather you’ve got nothing to lose fighting top talent, only to gain if you win or lose….Why should they fight you??? And at the time he was no more than some Kid with a few wins asking to fight what was considered to be the best at that time are now saying why should Mayweather fight you, you’ve got nothing to lose fighting Mayweather….but man how we forget the needy and zealous rise to greatness. The difference here is that Mayweather now has the opportunity to fight the guys who at one time could’nt justify the match but now see Mayweather as worthy oppsition.
