Police believe the man broke into the gallery in the middle of the night May 22 by breaking a glass by the rear courtyard door. He took two framed Picasso etchings, ”Jacqueline Lisant” and ”Le Repas Frugel”, valued at $145,000 and $395,000.
He then tried to sell one of the paintings to a California art dealer, authorities said.
The owner of the Gallery Biba got a call from the California art dealer about an offer to purchase Le Repas Frugel. When the dealer checked the Art Loss Registry, she found that it was stolen.
The Suspect shipped her the painting.
The California art dealer told police said she had previously purchased another painting from the suspect which was stolen from a gallery in Washington D.C.
Floyd Mayweather Robbed of $7 Million in Jewelry at Las Vegas Home
Mayweather confirmed that the jewelry is estimated to be valued at $7 million and was taken from one of his Las Vegas homes. The offense occurred on August 17, between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. The thieves apparently broke his bedroom window and entered while he was out of the house.
No one was hurt and security is working around the clock to ensure that cameras and professional guards are posted. Only the jewelry was observed to be missing.
Mayweather has issued a 100 thousand dollar reward for information leading to the return of the property.
I actually called this one back in the day:
“I really don’t think Floyd has been the smartest guy in the world for walking around his house with $100,000 cash on national TV. There are plenty of heist men out there. Ski Masks and Mack 11’s with silencers.”
The saga of “Dinnertime Bandit” Alan Golder ended today in Stamford Superior Court as he was convicted of kidnapping, two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of first-degree larceny.
He was found not guilty on several other charges.
Golder, accused of burglarizing the homes of wealthy Greenwich people as they ate dinner, was found guilty in connection with two burglaries in which a prosecution witness and admitted accomplice said he drove Golder to commit the crimes.
Golder had admitted to a successful run of jewel heists from estates along the East Coast and California from 1975 to 1980 that resembled the Greenwich crimes, including the homes of late-night television host Johnny Carson and singer Glen Campbell.
