What to do when you lose your Passport in Spain

What to do when you lose your Passport in Spain

In case you have the unfortunate circumstances of losing your Passport in Spain, and you have a flight to catch to leave the country, here is what you need to do:

1. You need to file a police report with the National Police (Policia National) not the local police. If you so happen to be in Alicante, Spain, they are located here: C/ Médico Pascual Pérez, 33 – 35. This is a major hassle and will throw salt in your Game, but having the police report will make things easier. Hopefully, you will also have a copy of your lost Passport.

2. You need to get either to Barcelona (Paseo Reina Elisenda de Montcada, 23, 08034 Barcelona) or Madrid (C/ SERRANO, 75, 28006 Madrid). Valencia has a Consulate as well, but they are closed now. I went to Barcelona, because I know the city better. The consolate is about 11km from the airport. Or about 15 min in cab.

3. Hop on flight to Barcelona (or Madrid). The police report will allow you to get on the flight.

4. Get your bags and throw them in the consegnas or storage lockers. This is in I think Terminal one. It costs about 5.40 euros for 24 hours. Make sure you keep your ticket safe.

5. Hope in a cab to The US Consulate in Barcelona. Grease the cab driver to make sure you get there before 1pm. This is key. And stupid that they close at 1pm. I mean, its not like it’s important, right? They are also open only Monday – Friday (9am to 1pm).

6. Roll over to Consulate. They actually are pretty helpful. If there is no line, they can get you an emergency Passport in one hour. You might need to show proof that you have a flight out of the country. Make sure you bring it. It will cost $135 dollars plus 4 euros for Passport photos. You can pay the $135 with credit card. You need cash (monedas) for the photos.

7. In an hour or so, you have your emergency Passport. Pure stoke.

8. Make sure you check out Monastery de Pedralbes and The Güell Pavilions by Antonio Gaudi, as both are in walking distance of the Consulate. This will help make your trip to Barcelona worthwhile.

9. Get a Catalan grind on.

10. Hop in a cab back to airport.

11. Get your luggage out of the consegnas.

12. You are back in action. Commence swooping girls at Barcelona airport. There will be tons.

Barcelona, Spain: Custom Moves

Barcelona, Spain: Custom Moves

Its splendor was dazzling. The silks, muslins, velvets, capes covered with sequins, jewels, incessant popping of champagne corks, valets coming and going, and the continual murmur rich people generate when gathered in strength, all delighted me. “That’s how I want to be,” he said to himself, “even if it means putting up with this insipid music that seems to be going on forever.” – Onofre Bouvila (a straight Catalan G) in The City of Marvels by Eduardo Mendoza

Bogotá, Colombia – I was going through some notes I had written down during my recent trip to Barcelona. I may expand and write out some of the stories behind these in the future, but for now, here are the notes of some Custom Moves I did while there:

• Hopped the turnstile at Verdager in a Custom Suit and handmade loafers.

• Showed the kids at Arc de Triomf how to do a kick flip and a shove it while I was in royal blue custom slacks, a light blue guayabera with a cigarette in mouth.

• Bought hash strictly out of habit, while walking to Sutton Club, only to later hand it to a cute dreadlocked girl that was kicking back on the street.

• Got down with some boxed wine, Dolo, at La Sagrada Familia for old time’s sake.

• Reminisced at old places I got blowers and shakers. It’s always good when you can say “Oh yeah, I remember when I got a blower there by the beach”.

• Swooped girls from Tarragona to Torredembarra.

• Heard Full clip by Guru in a club (Broadbar)

• I even had little kids from the east side of Barcelona throwing up the “Wessyde”.

• Accidentally dissed the actor, Bob Saget in NYC at the airport when I was exchanging some CASH and he asked me “How do you use this ATM?” I responded, “I don’t know Screech”, and went on about my business. (I had to ask my little brother later to figure out it was Bob Saget.)

• Did some sketches at Park Güell.

• Kicked back and smoked grits while watching tourists get hustled at three card monte on Las Ramblas.

• I even danced the Sardana one Sunday morning.

I love Barcelona, The City of Marvels.

America’s Image Problem

America’s Image Problem

If you like The G Manifesto, fill out this quick G Manifesto Survey

There is no doubt that George Bush damaged America’s reputation Internationally, as anyone who has travel the world extensively since the 1990’s will tell you.

This year however, I have noticed that the once great “Image” of Americans has also taken a header like Cisco did recently (and I am not talking about that weesh R&B artist, that wack food supply company, or that low-end booze that makes fools jump out of windows either).

I started noticing America’s Image Problem when I went to Barcelona earlier this year. I told the story of a stunningly beautiful Catalan girl who stepped to me in a dope hotel bar. (Side note: I can’t really blame her since I was feeling great and I was wearing a sicker than “foot in mouth” Custom Made Suit).

Anyways, after consummating the relationship in my dope apartment in the Eixample, she started off an interesting conversation:

Fly Catalan Girl: I am surprised you are American.

Michael Mason: (Not really in the mood for conversation, but I decide to bite) Why?

Fly Catalan Girl: Because you seem cool, and you have good style.

Michael Mason: Most American’s that come to Barcelona don’t?

Fly Catalan Girl: No. Most American’s are wankers.

(Side note II: She learned her English while modeling in London. Hence the use of the word “wanker”).

I really thought nothing of the exchange at the time.

Then fast forward to London Fashion week, when I was hanging out with a fly rich daughter of a Colombian mining family. We were taking a leisurely stroll near Wellington Square in Chelsea, puffing on jacks.

Michael Mason: Where have you traveled to in America?

Fly Rich Colombian Girl: NYC, California, DC, Miami Beach, New Orleans, Las Vegas etc (continuing a long list).

Michael Mason: Do you like America?

Fly Rich Colombian Girl: Yes, its nice to visit. But I am am always surprised by how fat the people are. Especially the girls.

This conversation was pretty interesting, as I aways thought that America had pulled one over on the rest of the world making them think our women were tops through our Media and Hollywood Hype Machine. But I didn’t think too much of it, as this fly rich Colombian girl had actually been to America, and thus “pulled the curtain back”, so to speak.

This whole thing really came to a “head”, so to speak, on my recent travels to Riga, Latvia.

I had no less that 5 different girls in Riga, Latvia say to me: “American Girls, they are really fat, yeah?” And only a couple of them had actually been to America.

I was particually brutal when I was hanging out with two fly Latvian girls, 18 and 19 years old, with thin, beautiful Baltic bodies and they said “American Girls, they are really fat, yeah?” and both girls started laughing evilly, wickedly and uncontrollably while sipping on cocktails.

It was then that I realized: America is a joke to the rest of the world.

How did we fall so fast?

Barcelona Nightclub Data Sheets

“Why, a visiting bishop asked Antoni Gaudí, did he trouble himself so much about the tops of the towers of The Sagrada Familia? After all, no one would ever see them. ‘Your Grace,’ Antoni Gaudí said, ‘the angels will see them.’Homage to Barcelona

This is a real valuable Data Sheet as this information is very hard to find on the internet, and almost everyone (one person came up aces) I asked prior to coming to Barcelona came up deuces.

This list is by no means definitive or exhaustive. Nor am I claiming. These are just some spots I was able to figure out that have mad fly girls; if you can get in.

Hotel Omm – great spot for a smooth cocktail to get your bearings straight. This was where I got stepped to by The Barcelona Nightlife Princess that was invaluable and introduced me to the fashion crowd, model dividends.

Solo Restaurant and Lounge – good on Friday nights and Saturday nights. 80% of the girls in here will be pretty fly. Near Hotel Omm. Closes at 3pm I think, but if you got juice, you can stay later. I had it.

Oshum – pretty sick club that stays open way late. Good on Fridays for sure. Scallywag behavior is possible here. Fly girls as well.

Broadbar – Want to see Spanish people dance salsa to hip-hop? Neither do I, but this place is pretty sick on Wed night. Tried to pull and “Inverse” Vicky Cristina on two fly 21 year old Catalan girls here, to no avail. But still ended up swooping one of them two nights later. Real solid spot, closes at 3pm.

Bikini – Crazy club open super late, good on Wed night. Probably other nights as well.

Sutton Club – Thursday night spot. Mad fly girls.

Hyde – Pretty wack, but being Barcelona, there are still fly girls there.

Dry Martini – ill spot for stiff cocktail before attacking Carrer d’Aribau area. Suited Down is a must when you bust.

Other spots to consider:

Nick Havana
Apolo
Tiffanys
Ribelinos
Seven Crowns (afterhours?)
Luz de Gas
Otto Zutz – haven’t been this time, but I used to chop up this spot as a 20 year old proto-type G. One of my old-school favorites.

As far as the Port Olimpic spots like CDLC, Shoko and Opium, I haven’t stepped. I am sure they are not too bad, but the Data Sheets I got was they are pretty touristy and International.

When I go to a place, I like to swoop the local girls. More difficult. And More Style Points.

Also, I heard The W Hotel is dope there, but I don’t do W Hotels.

Again, this list is by no means everything. I should know, I am keeping a few dope spots to myself for now. If you look hard enough, have some moves and understand the rhythms of the night, you will find them too.

Bona sort!

First night in town, no team around, Going for Dolo and begin my night at the Hotel Omm Barcelona lobby bar. Custom Suited Down, of course, I roll up, order a vino tinto and strike up a conversation with the smoothest cat in the spot. Or at least he was until I walked in.

I hit up “Oscar” for some Barcelona data sheets as I haven’t been to this city in a while. Oscar seems to be the resident playboy and he gives me some hot local tips, none of that Port Olimpic tourist stuff. I am out for fly Catalan girls.

Oscar gets called to the other bar by some cat he knows or the chef or something. So I just play the high post, and kick up my Gucci Loafers, International Playboy style. Within minutes, a striking blonde Catalan girl slides in beside me and orders a Cava. Her beauty actually gets me off balance and I hesitate; she looks like a young Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface, exuding class in a full length dress, dripping diamonds, flapper hair and all; which works out well, since I look not unlike a young Manolo. I even briefly think of “blowing out” my collar, but decide against. Thankfully, “Elena” rescues me and starts talking and we begin exchanging lyrical jabs in a “feeling out” round. This girl is beautiful; she could easily make my top 500 most fly girls I have swooped list.

Of course, Oscar returns when he sees me talking to the flyest girl in the spot and starts in with some high energy Game. This is not an uncommon situation; rolling Dolo, striking up a convo with a local G and having girls immediately step to you. It is however a tricky situation, a new ally can quickly turn into a new rival.

I have to hand it to Oscar, as his high energy Game, local knowledge and talking about how everything was “increíble” and “maravilloso” threatened to knock me out the box, and metaphorically, caught me with a looping shot.

I was now put in a tricky situation, I could have countered his high energy Game with high energy Game of my own, but I thought that could be a race to the bottom.

So I switched up speeds like Bruce Lee and took my Game down multiple notches, played aloof and effectively “shoulder rolled” Oscars Game. This made him appear a little spazzy and over-anxious. I also stayed in the convo and landed clean effective lyrical “punches” and even spit some Game in Catalan in addition to the Castelllano. For style points, of course.

Oscar wasn’t going to give up easy, and I can hardly blame him, this girl was beautiful and for all I know, I was encroaching on his Base of Operations. He had no interest in going out before to a nightclub, but when Elena, the Nightlife Princess, suggested going to the nightclub Solo, all of a sudden he was all in.

I did notice two weak points in Oscar’s Game: one, he did not smoke and had a slight cough, which told me he wasn’t 100%. And two, he said earlier he had to go to work the next day, so I knew if I could get him into deep water, I could drown him.

We all three skip the line at Solo straight to VIP. Although such things rarely hold my affection like when I was a younger G, however, rolling with a top tier Nightlife Princess, does have its privileges.

After an hour or so, Oscar, like I had anticipated, bowed out. However, Elena being a Night Princess, was constantly stepped to by cats she knew. I just stayed in the cut and used Nightlife Generalship (which is similar to Ring Generalship, only in a nightclub), to defeat all comers. Displayed some Salsa Game as well.

Solo closed, rolled to Oshum, things got a little Beeky and it had to be at least 7am. Endurance has always been one of my strong suits.

I go for the finish, “Quieres ver mi apartamento cerca de Passeig de Gracia?

She responds, “Si, vamos!

Not a bad start to this Barcelona trip.
