Travel Bum Show: The Cuba Prostitution Documentary

A friend of mine recently sent me The Cuba Prostitution Documentary by Andrew Lindy.

This cat obviously has talent. It is pretty damn good.

It is not a documentary about “prostitution” Cuba per se (and I don’t mean Thomas Keller’s restaurant Per Se either), as in the guy pays money in exchange for sex, it is more about the cat trying to pick up girls in Cuba.

I have been thinking someone needs to do an Anthony Bourdain-style travel show for the swooping girls set.

It sometimes makes me wish I could get in front of a camera and bust something out. It would be probably the dopest video show on the Internet. But I never would for a host of reasons.

But that is neither here nor there.

Montreal, Canada: Nightclub and Restaurant Data Sheets

Back in September I went to Montreal for the first time. You could say I am in the middle of a love affair with that city to say the least. Although my love affair will be put on hold till summer.

Here are some spots to hit up like an Everlast punching bag:

Cavalli – 2040 Peel
Good spot to swoop fly girls at, get there on the earlier side of things. Straight murdered this joint.

Wood– 3500 St. Laurent
Worth checking.

Wunderbar – 901 Square Victoria
In the W Hotel. Not bad, even though I historically speaking hate W Hotels. Upstairs lobby bar is a better move for an early night smooth cocktail.

Restaurant Holder – 407 McGill St
Fresh spot in Old Montreal.

Toqué! Restaurant – 900, Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle
Mindblowing food. Maybe 2nd best restaurant I ate all year.

Au Pied de Cochon – 536 Avenue Duluth
Mindblowing Foie Gras go off. Foie Gras to the brain.

Cherry – 417 Rue Saint Pierre
Dope nightclub. Very friendly girls to say the least. Real good move on a Thursday night. Door might be slightly tricky for the less connected.

Buona Notte – 3518 St. Laurent
Worth a look-see.

Ferreira Café -1446 Rue Peel
Portuguese Restaurant

Muzique – 3781 St. Laurent
Nightclub. Once had a “NO FAT GIRLS ALLOWED!!!!!!!!!!” party. Source

Ivy – 3556 St-Laurent
Nightclub.

MACARONI BAR – 4448 Boulevard Saint-Laurent
Never went but could be worth a shot.

Circus – 915 Saint Catherine
Late night spot. Could be a good option in a pinch. Never went.

Tonic Club Lounge – 2313 Rue Sainte-Catherine
Club/Lounge

Club Wandas -1310 Boulevard De Maisonneuve Ouest
Gentlman’s Club. 1-0 with 1KO here.

Travel Tip: The Bad Neighborhood Mean Dog Gauge

One thing I have noticed during my travels around the world, and especially in South American cities is you can tell when you are entering a bad hood by one full proof indicator:

Barking Dogs.

Buenos Aires PitBulls

(I really had the lightblub go off earlier this year when I was rolling the South Side of Buenos Aires for a month).

There is a positive or direct relationship between the meaner the sounding of dogs barking and the worse the neighborhood.

In an upmarket hood, you are more likely to hear dogs bark like this:

In a heavy duty hood, dogs sound more like this:

This Data can come in handy as you are stumbling around a foreign city, with a head full of drugs and booze as you can avoid getting jacked.

Or on the flip side, it might make it easier if you are trying to cop some drugs.

Either way, pay attention to the sound of the barking dogs.

And watch the closing doors.

Somebody Down There Hates Me

Over at The G Manifesto, we try to focus on the positive aspects of The Life of an International Playboy. You know, the Custom Suits, the Travel, the Fly Girls, the Nightclubs, the Smoking, the Boxing, the Racetracks, the Drugs, the Booze, the CASH, the Grinds, the Topless Beaches, and the overall style of being a Gentleman of Leisure.

However, as the most prolific writer on The International Playboy Lifestyle on the Internet, I feel compelled to let younger up-and-coming G’s on the rise know about some of the downsides of The Life.

When you choose this Life (or more realistically, this Life chooses you) you take some heavy beatings.

Also, you will have a tough time relating to people outside the Life (which is almost everyone).

Even more treacherous though, is the jealousy and envy that will be coming from your “friends”, your camaradas and enemies.

Don’t let it get you down, young G.

Keep punching. And look out for number one.

Success is a great revealer; you really get to know who stands with you and who doesn’t.

Because, a thug changes, and love changes and best friends become strangers.
