Aguanile is a Yoruba word (A language from west africa). In salsa it stems from the Afro-Cuban religion called Santería. You hear it (and other santería phrases) a lot in Cuban salsa. Most often you hear the full phrase “Aguanile mai mai” and it is part of the toque for the saint (orisha) Oggun.
The literal transalation is Nile water; its meaning is holy water to those who follow santeria.
Aguanile – is also the path of Oggun that is the witch-doctor and blacksmith extrodinaire. By using Aguanile in the song Hector Lavoe hoped to capture a recognizable term and affect of Santeria that was familiar to his audience.
Nile Water (AFRO CUBA) is inspired by Lavoe’s, “Aguanile”:
Palin family dressed horrible. Looks like an ad for the Men’s Wearhouse. Seriously. Horrible. And. Low class.
But that probably appeals to the typical American.
Any party that insists on playing Country Music is against all that is G Manifesto.
TELL THE TRUTH – Mos Def – Immortal Technique – Eminem
“I pledge no allegiance, nigga fuck the president’s speeches
I’m baptized by America and covered in leeches
The dirty water that bleaches your soul and your facial features
Drownin’ you in propaganda that they spit through the speakers
This shit is run by fake Christians, fake politicians
Look at they mansions, then look at the conditions you live in”
– Immortal Technique
“I don’t rap for dead presidents
I’d rather see the president dead
It’s never been said but I set precedents”
– Eminem
I try to keep The G Manifesto non-political (actually I don’t, but anyway). I have said it before, and I will say it again, “Fuck Country Republican Rednecks”.
Revolution is coming. Get ready. It’s in my blood.
