A manager of an armored truck company helped the police solve a $330,000 robbery when he noticed that surveillance images of the robber resembled one of the company’s employees, the police said Wednesday.

The employee was arrested at his home late Tuesday on robbery charges. The cash was not recovered.

The suspect was employed at Dunbar Armored, and the robbery occurred when a Dunbar truck was making a delivery to the M&T Bank branch at 397 First Avenue, near 23rd Street, on Tuesday morning. The Dunbar guard, a woman, was accosted and overpowered in the bank vestibule.

The suspect, who had been a driver for Dunbar Armored for about nine months, asked on Monday to have the next day off, according to a criminal complaint.

On Tuesday, the guard and a driver had parked the truck on East 23rd Street near the bank about an hour after the bank had opened at 8:30 a.m. When the guard, whose role was known as a “hopper,” jumped down from the truck and entered the bank’s vestibule carrying the cash in a nylon bag, she passed The suspect, who was wearing a hood and standing near the automated teller machines, the police said.

The police said The suspectattacked the guard from behind, holding her with his left arm while grabbing her gun with his right hand. He snatched the bag of cash and fled, while the guard ran into the bank, the police said.

Globe-trotting jewel thief Mike Eternity captured

Globe-trotting jewel thief Mike Eternity captured

No. Not me. Check it:

IT sounds like a plot from a Hollywood script, but US authorities say it is real.

For almost 20 years a suave, charming jewel thief travelled the world, bouncing between Australia, the US, Canada and Israel, and along the way stole tens of thousands of dollars, possibly millions, worth of diamonds from unsuspecting victims.

The story also has a Hollywood ending.

Last week on the US-Canadian border, American authorities finally put handcuffs on the alleged globe-trotting jewel thief.

His name is not easy to pronounce, Moshe Tsitsaushivili, although his alleged colourful, Hollywood-friendly alias contributed to his arrest.

The name on the fake Israeli passport Mr Tsitsaushivili allegedly handed over to the US Border Control officer was as brazen as the offences he is accused of committing.

Tsitsaushivili was posing as “Mike Eternity”.

Mr Tsitsaushivili, who was born in the former Soviet republic of Georgia, used his charm and skill as an expert diamond cutter to gain the confidence of jewellers across the northeast US in the 1980s, police allege.

He would offer to work for free or “a small stipend” and gain the business owners’ trust and when eventually allowed access to the store’s jewels without supervision, he would go on a lunch break and never return.

Bulletproof jacket is High Fashion in Mexico

Bulletproof jacket is High Fashion in Mexico

Shopping for designer clothes in Mexico City isn’t the same as it is in other world capitals.

In the tiny Miguel Caballero boutique on a leafy side street in the Polanco district, the jackets and shirts are not stacked according to size; they are stacked according to how well they will stop a bullet from piercing your chest.

“Low” means it can protect you against a .38 Special; “medium” will allow you to survive an assault from a sub-machinegun; and “high” will give you the chance to brag about the time someone tried to take you out at point-blank range with a .44 Magnum.

Welcome to the world of high-security fashion — a lucrative market in a country where there have been almost 3,000 murders this year, along with two or three kidnappings every day.

Miguel Caballero — named after the company’s Colombian founder — sells everything from trenchcoats to dress shirts (to be worn under your dinner jacket) and leather motorcycle jackets. Customers include President Chávez of Venezuela.

The most expensive line, labelled Black, features removable bulletproof panels that are so light and flexible that you can screw them up in your hand like paper. They are also thermo-regulating, meaning that they keep your body temperature between 13C (55F) and 17C. The only downside is the expense: $7,000 (£4,000) for a single jacket with the highest level of protection.

I need to get a few of these custom made. Things are getting dicey in this Down Economy.

Just to think, I have been cruising around Tijuana swooping girls in $7,000 non-bullet proof suits…

Police believe the man broke into the gallery in the middle of the night May 22 by breaking a glass by the rear courtyard door. He took two framed Picasso etchings, ”Jacqueline Lisant” and ”Le Repas Frugel”, valued at $145,000 and $395,000.

He then tried to sell one of the paintings to a California art dealer, authorities said.

The owner of the Gallery Biba got a call from the California art dealer about an offer to purchase Le Repas Frugel. When the dealer checked the Art Loss Registry, she found that it was stolen.

The Suspect shipped her the painting.

The California art dealer told police said she had previously purchased another painting from the suspect which was stolen from a gallery in Washington D.C.

Floyd Mayweather Robbed of $7 Million in Jewelry at Las Vegas Home

Floyd Mayweather Robbed of $7 Million in Jewelry at Las Vegas Home

Mayweather confirmed that the jewelry is estimated to be valued at $7 million and was taken from one of his Las Vegas homes. The offense occurred on August 17, between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. The thieves apparently broke his bedroom window and entered while he was out of the house.

No one was hurt and security is working around the clock to ensure that cameras and professional guards are posted. Only the jewelry was observed to be missing.

Mayweather has issued a 100 thousand dollar reward for information leading to the return of the property.

I actually called this one back in the day:

“I really don’t think Floyd has been the smartest guy in the world for walking around his house with $100,000 cash on national TV. There are plenty of heist men out there. Ski Masks and Mack 11’s with silencers.”
